Q3. What is the procedure for admission for DNS Course?

Ans: When student attend Minimum qualification I.e. (12th Std Sci. /Com.) or Diploma. Student should appear for pre selection online test available on the NMA website.


Q4. What is Eligibility for Australian DNS course?

Ans: Minimum 12th pass from Sci./Commerce ,F.Y,S.Y, T.Y B,Sc./B.Com, Or Any 10+3 Diploma Or Any B.E.


Q5. What is the Min. required vision for Eye sight?

Ans: Requirements are : 6/6 vision in both eyes (without visual aids); no colour-blindness for Deck-Officer's It will be an individual's decision to do whatever is required to meet the requirement and as long as one meets the above requirement, he will be eligible for Merchant Navy.


Q6. Is it compulsory to appear for Online test?

Ans: Yes.


Q7. Time to complete whole DNS course?

Ans. As Mention on the website under the “Course” Tab, It takes Min. 3 years to become 2nd mate Officer.


Q8. Can we come home during Pre-sea Training?

Ans: Students are not allowed to go home during (Residential) Pre-sea Training. only Saturday and Sunday, shore leave will be granted. Long leave can be granted for any genuine reason. With parents approval.


Q9. Can we apply for Education Loan?

Ans: Loan process will be your responsibility as a Student and you will have to choose the bank who will be willing to give you the loan. We will provide all required documents for your loan process after selection procedure. DNS Course is professional Course.


Q10. If our bank does not provide us bank loan then can you help us for bank loan?

Ans: We will provide documentation assistance to student. But we will not be able to provide you any financial assistance from our end.


Q11. Is the Training fees is Fixed or it will vary?

Ans: The fees will remain unchanged as mentioned in our fees structure, any changes will be declared in advance on our website before starting the batch.


Q.12 . What is CDC? Which CDC Nimbus Maritime Academy provides?

Ans: CDC is the abbreviation of the (Continues Discharge Certificate). It is seafarers Document to work on board a ship. CDC has no direct relationship to the placement or Job prospects in the merchant navy. Nimbus Maritime Academy Provides Flag State CDC’s as per company requirement.


Q13. What about Placement?

Ans: Placement Assistance will be provided to all students who successfully complete the Course.


14. What would be Stipend on Ship?

Ans: It's depend upon company to company & market Situation. Generally it is starts with $250 to $500.


Q15.Dose Indian CDC Guarantee my Job?

Ans: “ NO”. CDC stands for continues discharge certificate, is a travel document like passport, for example if a person is sailing a Panama registered ship, he needs to have a Panama CDC and similarly it apply for other countries also. Indian CDC can be applied from govt of India by a Indian national after clearing COC from any white-listed country, such as (UK, Australia)


Q15. Is my COC from Australia is Valid all Over the world?

Ans: Yes, your certificate/license/ ticket , issued by the Australian Government of, Australia is a Member of white list Countries Approved by International Maritime Organization (IMO). Certificate Of Competency (COC) from Australia is one of the highest rated certificates in the maritime world.


Q.16. Can I work in Australia during my college stay?

Ans: As Per Present Australian Visa regulations full time students can work 20hrs a week. Nimbus Maritime Academy helps students to get working visas those who are going for final examination.


Q17. How much time does it take for a Deck Cadet to become a Master/ Captain?

Ans: A Deck Cadet/Engine Cadet can become a Master/Chief Engineer in eight to ten years subject to appears and passes all his promotion examinations in time and also completes the necessary Sea-time and Post Sea Courses on time.


Q18. What is the maximum number of days a seafarer has to sail on ship?

Ans: Typically at times the voyage could be up to 9 months Or As per the policy of the company.


Q19. What are the shore opportunities when I stop sailing?

Ans: When you stop sailing after becoming Master or a Chief Engineer, there will be many opportunities at shore as Marine Superintendent, Technical Superintendent, Manning Superintendent, Vetting Superintendent, Port Pilot or Harbour Master, Conservator of Ports etc.


Q20. Can we take our family on ship?

Ans: Most companies provide facilities to take families after a certain At this stage, top 4 senior officers (Master, C/O, C/E, 2/E) are allowed to carry family onboard.


Q21. Will I get the salary when I am not sailing and on leave?

Ans: No, you will not be entitled for salary when you are on leave. During the on-board training period the trainees are paid stipend and not salary.


Q22. What kinds of certificates are required to serve in as Deck Cadet?

Ans: This varies with the Position and Ranks. All the deck cadets have to complete their Basic STCW Certificates and INDOS certificates.


Q23. How I get promotion in Merchant Navy?

Ans: On gaining the certificate for Second Mate, the officer is eligible to be posted as 2nd or 3rd officer on board a good merchant ship, with good salary. Further sea service renders the officer capable of giving the First Mate (Foreign Going) and Master (Foreign Going) examinations. Passing of the latter exam gives him the certificate of competency to become the Captain of a merchant ship.


Q24. What is INDOs Number?

Ans: INDOS (Indian National Database of seafarers), is a computerized national database of Indian seafarers which is of use for quick reference by statutory authorities such as Flag State, Port State, Immigration and Employers etc., to prevent the fraudulent issue of certificates. The database includes data like the seafarer's address, photographs, signature, telephone, etc. An INDos number consists of eight alphanumeric characters. Henceforth, no seafarer without an INDos number will be admitted to any course other than a three month pre-sea training course in India.


Q25. While on ship can we communicate with our Family?

Ans: Yes, you can communicate with your parents by way of internet, Satellite phones etc. As Per policy of the company.


Q26. What are STCW courses?

Ans: STCW (Standards for Training ,Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers ) rules 2010 as an international convention specifically setting standard for seafarers mandatory for every candidate who want to join maritime industry includes Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid courses.
